Position: Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor

Location: Midlands Based

Salary: Senior Quantity Surveyor: £70,000 - £85,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus - Quantity Surveyor: £55,000 - £70,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus

Our client are a construction and building services company based in the West Midlands, who are responsible for delivering Mechanical & Electrical projects across commercial, industrial, infrastructure and rail sectors. They looking to recruit both a Senior Quantity Surveyor and a Quantity Surveyor to join their Major Works department. Both positions will involve managing the commercial and contractual aspects of M&E projects from contract award through to final account, working closely with project delivery teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered successfully and profitably. Project are typically located along the M6 and M1 corridors, between Manchester and just North of London.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for the commercial performance of multiple projects, providing contractual guidance, managing commercial risks and supporting project teams with commercial decision-making. The Quantity Surveyor will manage the commercial activities of assigned projects, with the opportunity to further develop their contractual and commercial expertise.

Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor Position Requirements

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the M&E or Building Services sector
• Strong understanding of commercial management principles and project cost control
• Experience managing project valuations, applications for payment, variations and subcontract accounts
• Experience procuring and managing subcontract packages
• Understanding of contractual obligations, change control and final account procedures
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and contract documentation

Additional Requirements - Senior Quantity Surveyor

• Extensive experience managing the commercial performance of multiple M&E projects
• Strong knowledge of NEC contracts
• Detailed understanding of contract law and contractual risk management
• Experience managing projects from pre-contract through to final account
• Confident producing and presenting monthly cost reports and commercial reviews
• Experience negotiating subcontract terms, final accounts and commercial settlements
• Degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management desirable
• Working towards RICS, CIOB or an equivalent professional qualification desirable
• Previous experience within rail projects highly advantageous

• Senior Quantity Surveyor: £70,000 - £85,000
• Quantity Surveyor: £55,000 - £70,000
• Car allowance: £6,000
